What animal is it from? What kind of milk is it?
K9 Natural Milk is made in New Zealand from 100% New Zealand grass-fed, free-range cow's milk.
Are the cows grass-fed?
Yes! K9 Natural Milk is made in New Zealand from 100% New Zealand grass-fed, free-range cow's milk.
What are the ingredients?
Milk, Flaxseed Oil, Lactose Enzyme, Taurine, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate. You can find the guaranteed analysis (GA) for Pet Milk under Nutritional Information on our product page, linked here.
What makes it different from milk humans drink?
Standard cow’s milk that humans drink is generally difficult for pets to digest and can lead to upset stomachs. This is because of the naturally occurring lactose enzyme that most cats and dogs are unable to break down naturally.
Therefore, the main difference with K9 Natural Milk is that we remove lactose from the milk to create an easily digestible (and delicious) supplement.
What are the health benefits?
K9 Natural Milk is an excellent supplement that offers first and foremost, a calcium boost to your pet’s feeding regime. This calcium boost helps build strong bones & teeth, and assists heart muscle & nervous system function. To support our specific formulation for pets, our milk also contains additional vitamins and minerals:
- Taurine to aid heart health, eye health and immune system function.
- Flaxseed Oil & Omega 3 to help with a shiny, itch free coat and increase immunity.
How is the milk processed?
The milk is UHT (ultra-high temperature) processed to remove the bacteria from fresh milk that makes it require refrigeration.
The milk is packed into sterilised bottles and sealed. However once opened and exposed to air it should be kept refrigerated and used within 5 days. UHT does not degrade any of the goodness that you naturally find in milk or the added taurine and flaxseed.
Is it shelf stable?
Yes, our milk is shelf stable until opened. Once opened, we recommend storing in the fridge and using within 5 days.
I noticed some white sediment in my milk - do I need to be worried?
Rest assured this is normal. The white sediment is precipitation which is caused by the fat separating from the milk and solidifying. We recommend shaking the bottle well before serving.
What are the ways of using this product?
On its own as added hydration, or for a nutritional treat. As a hydrator for our K9 Natural freeze-dried product. Frozen in the freezer for a K9 Natural friendly iceblock – ideal especially in hotter month.
Is your bottle and label recyclable in curbside recycling bins?
Our bottle is made from food grade PET plastic and is recycling number 1. Number 1 plastics are fully and easily recyclable meaning they are accepted in almost all curb side recycling programs. For more information, check with your local recycling service for their guides and recommendations on best way to recycle PET 1.
